Juno: The Canadian Attack
is on back order
On the evening of June 5th 1944, following a day’s postponement due to poor weather conditions, Commodore Oliver’s J Force cast off from ports near Southampton. This force was compromised of troops who were to land on Juno Beach a few hours later. Aboard HMS Hilary, Commodore Oliver received his order. They accompanied the naval bombardment E Force, tasked with the mission of destroying the coastal defences to facilitate Canadian progression.
